Walpole Flexible Generation
A flexible generation project utilising hydrogen generation
The opportunity
A flexible generation project utilising hydrogen generation, strategically positioned on land at Walpole, Norfolk.
The Walpole Flexible Generation facility will be made up of turbines to generate electricity. The turbines will be fuelled by hydrogen. The project is at a very early stage and we are currently considering the form the development can take and work necessary to prepare a future application for development consent.

Technology
Flexible generation provides vital energy security to the electricity network
Flexible generation provided by reciprocating engines is designed to ramp up from a standstill to full capacity within a matter of minutes (typically less than 10 minutes) and complement the fast-acting services of batteries. With the ability to sustain delivery over long periods without the risk of running out of stored energy, Flexible generation provides vital security to the UK power system, whether that be in response to a shortage in generation or an increase in overall demand.

About us
Who is Statera?
Statera is a UK-based energy company that develops, owns and operates flexible generation, battery storage, pumped hydro and green hydrogen projects which will all provide critical grid balancing support in a future renewables-led system.
These assets will help the UK build more renewable energy, more quickly, by providing the flexible capacity needed to balance the future grid during periods of extended shortfalls and excesses in renewable generation, due to the variability of wind and solar output. In turn, this technology will lower carbon emissions and deliver best value for energy users.
